Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has appointed Siaya Governor James Orengo and Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang'i as co-chairs of the Ukombozi Alliance Council, formerly known as the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

In a notice on Thursday, November 5, Kalonzo, upon arriving at Kisumu International Airport ahead of his tour of Migori and Homa Bay Counties, described the appointments as part of efforts to strengthen the opposition coalition and dismissed concerns over disagreements among its leaders.

He was accompanied by Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and other Wiper officials.

“The Super Alliance is in the making. We have chosen two people who have given this country years of service, and they will chair the Council of the Ukombozi Alliance together,” Kalonzo said.

“Those who are busy counting our disagreements should know that we are going to the people together, and the people are waiting for us.”

The Wiper leader said the alliance was focused on challenging the current administration, which he accused of failing Kenyans.

“This country has had enough of the predator regime. Komboa Kenya is what we are about, and with Orengo and Matiang'i at the table, we are ready for the work ahead,” he added.

Explaining the choice of the two leaders, Kalonzo cited their respective experience in constitutional matters and public administration.

“Orengo has stood for the Constitution when it was dangerous to do so. Matiang'i knows how government works and how to get it to deliver. Kenyans will see that in the Alliance,” he stated.

The announcement comes as opposition leaders continue efforts to consolidate their political formations ahead of the 2027 General Election, with questions emerging over how they will agree on a common presidential candidate.
